Most of what gets written about American garba is about the big rooms — arenas, 2,000-ticket halls, headliners flown in for a single evening. Those nights matter. But they are not how most people in a metro actually get their first garba, and they are not what a family with three kids can do every weekend of the season.

Bay Area garba coverage tends to collapse into San Jose, and the South Bay genuinely does carry the largest events.
